xxxHOLiC #7 - Hydrangea

After taking a break from the supernatural last week, this episode brings the spirits back in full force. Watanuki is asked (more like ORDERED) by a rain spirit to "save her." Who is "she", and why does Doumeki need to come along? Moreover, what's with the ribbons?


I just adore the rain spirit. She's got usch a kick-butt attitude, and knows how to swing an umbrella like nobody's business. The corkscrew pigtails are also a plus in my book. I'd like to see more of her in future episodes.


The scenes under the hydrangea did a pretty good job of being creepy. They're not quite scary, but they give you a feeling of uneasiness. You know something is wrong. I was impressed by how they represented the hydrangea's voice. The sparks of light and the voice that changed pitch every word gave it an unearthly feeling. When Watanuki woke up holding hands with the skeleton, I got a lump in my throat.


Yuuko's outfit in the last few scenes is just fabulous. I want her wardrobe!
